To celebrate Sriracha Week, I decided to make a few dishes that really showcase the delicious chili garlic flavor of Sriracha that we all know and love. What I love most about Sriracha is that is a nice and “safe” heat. You know it is there, it doesn’t slap you in the face like some other serious chilis can do, and the little hint of garlic is always welcome. I found this recipe through Pinterest and what drew me to it was not only was it budget friendly, it was fast, and you probably already have most of the ingredients in your fridge right now! I decided to make this for a friends BBQ and we enjoyed the noodles with some amazing smoked ribs. To top off the whole meal we washed down the meal with a Moscow Mule.
Now, if you are someone who is not crazy about super spicy food, I would suggest omitting the part where you melt the butter and add in the red pepper flakes. This is the part of the recipe that could make this dish too hot to handle if you are not super familiar with spices. When you put the red pepper flakes in the butter, you are really bringing out the essential oils of the pepper flakes and drawing out all of its heat. Having said that, if you are the kind of person that loves to be slapped in the face with some spice… add a bit more red pepper flakes and you will really get some good heat. Also, if you wanted to substitute the egg for tofu, you totally could. If you wanted to bulk up this dish, you could always add chicken or shrimp to add a protein to the meal. This dish reminded me a lot of a super spicy pad thai. It is quick, easy, and delicious. I highly recommend making this dish for a quick dinner, a backyard BBQ, or as a side dish for any dinner.
